Are you asking yourself “Why is my computer running slow?” Before you buy a new computer, I will show you how to speed up your computer.

If you do not want the read my whole story, you can click here to download a Free Scan of RegCure, the multi-award winning software program that will make your computer faster.

The Windows Registry and Slow Computer Performance

The problem with a slow performing computer is that the Windows Registry, which is a vital part of Windows, is no longer performing as designed. Without it, Windows would not be able to perform any task. It contains all settings and information regarding software, hardware and user preferences. It also stores all changes that you make to file associations, control panel settings, installed software or system policies.

The Complexity of the Windows Registry

The Windows Registry tends to collect clutter once you’ve had your computer for a while. During the installation and removal of software and hardware, remnants often stay behind causing Windows to work harder following out of date commands. The cluttered registry will slow down your PC performance, and maybe even cause errors, PC freezes and system crashes.

Common problems are:

Applications/Programs on your computer start very slowly.

Slow internet surfing and download speed

Starting up / shutting down your computer takes forever.

Your computer restarts on its own.

Your computer freezes and/or you get a blue screen.

You get strange error messages (e.g. Dll errors)

Problems with installing or uninstalling programs.

Cleanup your Computer

The answer to the question “How to Make Your Computer Faster” is by cleaning and optimizing the Windows Registry. However modifying the registry manually is a daunting and risky task. Permanent damage can be done by simply mis-typing an entry. Only experienced users should edit the registry manually. This can be done by running regedit.exe or regedt32.exe, which are both included with your Windows operating system.

But cleaning the registry can be easy if you have the right tools. Software has been developed to clean, repair and optimize the registry without any risk. RegCure is such a product. Slow PC performance and Windows errors are no longer a problem once you’ve installed RegCure.

What is the Windows Registry

The windows registry is an important part of the Windows operating system. Without it, Windows would not be able to run. The registry is stored on your computer in numerous files and depending upon the Windows version, these files will be different and stored at different locations.

The windows registry records the links between memory space, hardware, and addressing. It holds information and settings for all users and preferences, software and hardware of your PC. Whenever you change settings, system policies, file associations, or installed software, the changes are stored in the windows registry. The operating system constantly checks this information throughout its operation.

What is the Relationship between the Registry and PC Performance?

The Windows Registry is the engine of the Windows operating system. Without it, Windows would not be able to run.

When you install and uninstall software the Windows Registry gets overloaded with “junk” information. After a while the windows registry becomes very large, which can decrease your PC’s performance and cause it to become unstable.

The best thing you can do, to stop your computer from slowing down and further registry corruption, is to optimize and clean your Windows Registry.

Most people never clean their Windows Registry…that is why 93% of all computers have these problems.

Some PC users will spend a lot of time editing the windows registry manually. However, this can be a daunting and risky task.

RegCure – Windows Registry Cleaner

Fortunately, there is a multi-award winning registry repair tool, RegCure. This registry cleaner repairs and optimizes the Windows Registry in just 2 minutes. And because it is an user-friendly tool, you don’t have to be a PC geek.

So, if you want to increase the speed of your PC, I recommend to use RegCure.

We live in a fast paced world and we’re always looking for the fastest way to get things done. We barely have time to wait for our burger at the local fast food restaurant, our coffee to brew, our microwave popcorn to pop, so who has time to wait around for a slow computer?

Barring adding more RAM to your computer, there are 6 steps you can take to make your computer faster. Most of these steps will allow you to speed up your computer, free of charge since they are applications already installed on your computer.

Empty your Recycle Bin

One of the first steps you should take is to empty the Recycle Bin. It’s easy to do. Just point your cursor to the Recycle Bin icon on your desktop, right-click, and choose “Empty Recycle Bin.”

Delete Cookies and Temporary Internet Files

Next, open up your Internet Explorer, go to Tools, Internet Options. Click on “Delete Cookies,” then on “Delete Files.” In the window that appears, check “Delete all offline content” and click OK. Once that’s done, click OK to close the Internet Options window, and close your Internet Explorer.

Cleanup your Disk

Those two are steps are the quickest, and simplest ones so that’s why we got them out of the way first. Next, we’ll be conducting a Disk Cleanup. To do this, click on Start, All Programs, Accessories, System Tools, Disk Cleanup. The disk cleanup function will now begin calculating how much space you will be able to free up. Once it finishes, it’ll give you a list of files to delete. It should already have some files checked, but you can go through the list and check off all the files you want to delete, then click OK.

Defragment your Disk

Now it’s time to do a disk defragmentation. This can be a long process so you should probably set this up during a time when you’ve got other things going on. For example, set it up, then go watch your favorite TV show, or go mow the lawn, or go workout. You get the idea. To begin go to Start, All Programs, Accessories, System Tools, Disk Defragmenter. Click Analyze. If you’re lucky, you’ll get the “You do not need to defragment this volume” call-out, but more than likely, you’ll have to click on “Defragment.” If so, click on it, go do something else and come back in an hour or two.

Run a Spyware Scan

Once that’s done, it’s time to run a spyware scan. Most people don’t realize how easy it is to get infected with spyware, so running periodic scans is highly recommended. You can use any anti-spyware program you choose. Just be aware that no one program gets rid of everything. To play it safe, you should run at least three different programs. You might be surprised by what they find. You may have had spyware running on your computer and not even know it. Once the scans are complete, and all that spyware is taken care of, it’s time for the last step.

Run an Anti-Virus Scan

This last step is to run an anti-virus scan. Hopefully you have an anti-virus program installed on your computer. If not, I highly recommend you get one as soon as possible. Once the anti-virus program is set, go ahead and run it. This could take anywhere from 20 minutes to a couple hours depending on how many files you have on your hard drive so once again, set it, and then go do something else. Come back in about an hour.

Once all the steps are complete. Restart your computer and you’ll be surprised at how completely nimble it now feels. It’s a good idea to follow these 6 steps at least once per week (some steps you can even set up to be done automatically). By doing this, you will keep your computer performing almost like it did when you first bought it.

Windows registry is a vital portion of the Windows 98, XP, Vista and 7 operating systems. It is a database of sorts, keeping the configuration settings and .dat files together.

Windows registry is a vital portion of the Windows 98, XP, Vista and 7 operating systems. It is a database of sorts, keeping the configuration settings and .dat files together. A program installed in the computer is jampacked with information that is automatically transferred to the registry. What are these pieces of information? They can be about the hardware, the memory and other Windows applications.

The registry is made up with a lot of folders and more subfolders. “Hives” or keys also constitute a registry. These hives are the following:

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT. You know why Windows know that a .doc file is from a MS Word document? It’s because of this registry key.

HKEY_CURRENT_USER. This key records the information of the user currently using the computer.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE. This contains hardware, security accounts manager or SAM, security, software and system information.

HKEY_USERS. This key registers information on all the recognized users.

HKEY_CURRENT_CONFIG. This computer registry key contains more hardwore information.

HKEY_DYN_DATA. This is under the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE key that deals with Plug and Play devices.

When you are in the registry, you will also come across with these files: the string value that enables you to add a version number, the binary value for specific attributes, and dword which bears a semblance with binary value.

Is windows registry important? Of course, yes. Take note: if you uninstall a program, the registry conks down and needs immediate troubleshooting to get back in shape. Once your computer slows down, you may chalk it up to the registry. But never worry, because we’ve got lots of solutions to keep your windows registry in first-rate condition.

Here are some ways to fix windows registry:

1. Utilize System Restore.

When something has been done to computer registry, there is one way to fix it quickly and effortlessly: System Restore. System Restore makes it possible to undo all the changes and to go back to the system’s original condition.

2. Use available software for backup and cleaning.

Every computer user must know that backup is not an option, it is a mandatory step. There are utilities that can be used to backup and clean your registry files, such as RegCure.

If you have computer slowdowns or processes running that you have never even heard of then you need a registry cleaner.

The registry is the place where your computer stores the configuration information about your computer and your installed programs so that your operating system can use them.

Maintaining the registry is an important step in keeping your computer healthy. Registry problems can include slow performance, computer crashing, and the annoyingh Microsoft Windows error messages.

If any of these describes you as a computer user:

- Has old drivers on their system that have not been removed.

- Installs or uninstalls software very often.

- Have third party programs running such as Spyware and Adware (you can’t stop these from being installed)

- Remove software by deleting them from the Program Files folder.

- Installs or Uninstalls hardware.

Then you absolutely need to be repairing your Microsoft Windows registry regularly! All of the above leave traces in your registry that will only hurt your computer in the long run. If you don’t clean your computer to fix your registry than you are going to be in a whole world of trouble.

Make sure that you backup your registry before you try to clean or fix anything. Most registry cleaners have registry backup automatically for you, but be sure to check them out. Remember, don’t try to edit anything in the registry yourself unless you are very computer savvy.

Why do you need a registry cleaner? Registry cleaners are important because it protects your PC from harmful processes. Is your computer slowing down for no apparent reason? Are you having errors that are not solved by your anti-virus or anti-spyware program? Your PC might be affected by applications that are running without your knowledge. Registry cleaners are a must! Registry cleaners ensure that your registry is clean.

Some errors are just a quick registry fix, while others could be more problematic.

If you keep your registry clean, free of viruses and spyware your computer will last much longer. Spend the time or money now for a registry cleaner to save you even more time or money later down the road.

It can be anything from BIOS and/or Operating System Settings to programs that are eating up your CPU and RAM (no matter how much you have). Or it can be your network.

Personally, I work my computer like a father mother with a house full of kids 12 to 18 hours a day.

That father needs to unwind at the end of the day and so does my computer and probably yours too.

Here are 9 Tips in the order they should be completed that can help keep your computer happy and working without complaining:

1. This is so basic I shouldn’t need to say it, Keep Which Ever E-Mail Program You Use Cleaned Out. I have clients who are always complaining, but who refuse to dump years and years of accumulated e-mail.

2. Make sure you have a good anti virus program (Only one per computer please), have it up to date, and auto monitoring.

3. Make sure you have a good anti-spyware program (Only one per computer), have it up to date, and auto monitoring.

4. Run Disk Clean Up Daily (Start, Programs, Accessories, System Tools, Disk Clean Up – a box opens – make sure each box is checked, click ‘OK’ – a box pops up – Click Yes).

5. Delete Cookies and Cached Files Daily (Start, Control Panel -if you have not done it yet, click ‘Switch To Classic View’, Internet Options – a pop up box will appear – Delete Cookies, Click OK, Click Delete Files – check ‘Delete All Offline Content’ – Click OK, Now Set Your Clear History to no more than 7 Days – if you haven’t used it for a week you probably won’t miss it – Click OK)

6. A very important step almost everyone misses: Empty The Prefetch Folder (Start, My Computer, ‘C’ , Windows, Prefetch Folder, Edit, Select All, File, Delete – pop up box appears – Click Yes, Close Windows Window)

7. Empty Recycle Bin. For the sake of brevity, I am assuming everyone knows where it is and how to empty it.

8. Scan Hard Drive ‘C’ (Start, My Computer, Right Click ‘C’ – box opens – Click Properties at the bottom – another box opens – Click Tools, Click Check Now, Make sure both ‘Automatically fix file system errors’ and ‘Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors’ are checked, Click Start. Get a cup of java (oh, black, thank you) and Wait !

9. Defrag Computer (Start, Programs, Accessories, System Tools, Disk Defragmenter – window opens – Select ‘C’ Drive, Click Defragment). Pop a top and Wait !

The last two steps (8 and 9) can take awhile if they have not been done recently. I complete this entire routine on my computer just before I stop work for the day everyday and the entire sequence takes no longer than 20 minutes and often much less.
